Quick Question - Paying way through college?
I was told by a career adviser that since I am paying my way through college by working I should put that somewhere on my resume (under the education section). I'm hesitant since to me that seems pretentious... also Jeff Chiang did it so that automatically reduces its credibility (jk). Thoughts?
To clarify, she recommended a line that says "personally paying 100% of tuition and living expenses through multiple jobs"
I probably wouldn't...it's something you can bring up during the interview if they ask you a question where bringing that up is apropos.
ive seen a lot of people do it just under their education section. i doubt its something thats going to elicit a negative reaction from anyone looking at ur resume.
I don't see why it is relevant. I think it is better to just bring it up in the interview. There's a ton of possible impressive things one could put on a resume: "first generation college student, scholarship recipient, etc, etc"
i would also just bring it up in the interview
i think that it definitely shows determination and a drive to succeed...in my opinion paying your way through college by yourself is incredibly difficult and demonstrates a lot of maturity/responsibility...so why not?
