Resume help - don't hold back
Hey guys,
I'm looking to make a career change into IB. Targeting MM and boutique firms. I have a bit of a different background as I am not a business major.
My current role is a management reporting role in FP&A, that requires making a lot of presentations. I wasn't sure how much I should concentrate on that. Also, should I include relevant course work, since I wasn't a business major?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Tear this thing up!
looks good. i think you will be able to make the switch well. maybe just make your interests part consistent with your resume: "Basketball, Football, Poker". Your interests are a bit bland. putting relevant coursework is a good idea too
some numbers might be nice for your most recent job that show your results
fairly strong. I'd add specific results to your professional experience section.
Thanks guys. I will incorporate your suggestions tonight.
Anyone else?
I would definitely include something about PPT presos used by the CEO and other high-level execs. That will be a big selling point.
I think your resume is quite strong for FP&A and maybe any position at a regional bank (i.e. CB). But, I think you need to try and tailor it more for IB. You know excel fairly well, but I would talk more in detail about the company financials and how you modeled them out (something along the lines of built operating model, forecasting out financials for N # of years) and also include something with cash flow/valuation (if you can).
Thanks man. Do you think I can/should cut and trim any part of it? Or would the length be fine if I just add a couple more bullet points with your suggestions?
