BU or Northeastern

My best options for school are BU or Northeastern University.

According to:

http://bwnt.businessweek.com/interactive_reports/…

Boston U. is like 42 and Northeastern is 27, despite that list I have heard BU gets more recruiting on campus and possibly has a better reputation on wall street.

Any input?

BU dude. Chick I work with went there and she is SMOKING, plus her Dad is a way up there at a BB so there could be quality networking.

I have never met anyone who actually liked BU, unless you don't want to party do not go there. BC kids are generally tools who think the throw down hard. I've heard terrible things about all three and I went to a school where half of the kids in my graduating class go to school in Boston. The only ones who likes it either go to Sullfolk or Emerson. I would probably go with NU or BU and just hittup the bar scene. For more information you may get reference from here http://www.thedegreeexperts.com/online-college.aspx

Northeastern is ranked higher by Bloomberg for best undergrad business school (ranked 19 for now...) I say for now because it will definitely go up because every year northeastern is getting more reputable, moving up the rankings and lowering its acceptance rate (this year it was 28%). Plus the 60 million dollar donation to the business school will help a lot lol.

Also there is decent recruiting at northeastern. It is as good if not better than BU. I know at least 6 people that are going to GS and 6 going to UBS. MS is also involved with the co-op program. CS also does a decent amount of recruiting from NEU. The co-op program is also way stronger than regular college summer internships. You get way more work experience and it looks good on the resume. Now your first co-op probably won't be for a BB but there are great middle market firms that do a lot of recruiting at NEU like MFS, State Street, Wellington and more. These are great companies to work for, get experience from, and add to the resume. Co-oping for a middle market, being active in the finance and investment club, having a super high GPA, and networking should make you a solid candidate for the BB's. All in all I think Northeastern is a better place to go to than BU for IB. Its name recognition will go up in the coming years but also people in New York know what it is and thats where you want to get a job for IB anyway lol.

Why are you on such a campaign trail to bolster Northeastern's rep on here? You've commented on like 5 threads that are quite old. You clearly go there. Stop bumping all these old threads. No one cares about BU or Northeastern.

Ya i do go to Northeastern (I said that in another comment) I'm just saying between BU and Northeastern I would choose Northeastern for the reasons I previously stated. Now if BC was on the list I would say to go to that school but from Northeastern breaking into investment banking isn't impossible and many people have done it.

These are all good schools though as you mentioned not necessarily the first thing that would spring to mind when you think of "targets" for IBD... BU has a school of management (undergraduate business program) that is supposedly pretty good - at least regionally within Boston. I don't know enough about Northeastern to comment. Of the three, Fordham arguably has the strongest representation on Wall Street (though not necessarily in front office roles).

Obviously, Fordham's geographic proximity to Wall Street would also be a plus as in-person networking would be much easier (e.g. Midtown Manhattan or Wall Street is only a subway or cab ride away) compared to Boston.

Northeastern has a good co-op program that helps students get valuable experience before graduating. BU is probably the best school out of the three but BU's business school is not highly regarded. Fordham is a decent school with proximity to IB. It should provide you with the best opportunities to network and also some banks do come to the school to recruit because of the proximity. Your best bet is Fordham.
