Columbia Business School for PE

Hi all,

Wondering about how CBS is for candidates with pre-MBA PE experience. Overall it seems like a very small % of the class ends up in PE (around ~5%) vs HSW which is expected, but I'm curious how difficult it is to recruit back into the industry out of the school?

Anyone know what funds participate in OCR? Is the PE program useful for candidates or is it just window dressing for the school? Cheers!

Based on the most helpful WSO content, Columbia Business School (CBS) does have a presence in Private Equity (PE) recruiting, but it is considered one of the school's weaker areas compared to other fields like investment banking or investment management. This is partly due to self-selection among students and the alumni base of the school. While the exact percentage of the class ending up in PE might be relatively small, it's important to note that PE is a highly competitive field with fewer positions available compared to other sectors.

Regarding on-campus recruiting (OCR), the context does not provide a specific list of PE funds that participate in OCR at CBS. However, it's common for students with pre-MBA PE experience to leverage their background, the school's network, and the resources available to navigate the recruiting process.

As for the PE program at CBS, there is no detailed information provided in the context about its effectiveness or whether it's considered "window dressing." It would be advisable to connect with current students, alumni, or the career services office at CBS to get more insights into the PE program and how it supports candidates in their recruitment efforts.
