Erasing 90k in debt in 7 months

In light of the post with student loan horror stories, here's a success story of someone who paid off 90k in debt from his HBS MBA in 7 months with a good but not great job. Some of the stuff isn't that smart, but it's an interesting story and a good contrast to the "models and bottles" school of thought.

What do you guys think? Have any ridiculous frugality stories?

This is insane. I kind of want to try something similar to this after I graduate with my bachelors. Save up 150k and just live with my parents, then get my MBA and pay it off full right then and there. It's pretty much impossible though.

hahaha what an idiot. 30 years old and $0 saved for retirement. He's fucked. He will soon realize that he needs to pay for a mortgage and his kid's college tuition. I don't think that the money he saves with his flask will get him those things.

I'm down 40K in student debt in under 2 years, haven't neglected my 401K completely, and live a "normal" financial life...yes to restaurants, no to flasks. Basically, no huge vacations I can't finance with Starwood points, not owning a car I don't need, and living in a safer and cheaper (but not as cool) neighborhood. That's it. Also, I'm pre-MBA, so no six figures yet.

Basically, this guy is an attention-seeking weirdo. Brady4MVP would be proud though...HBS!
