For those successful transfer applicants

Hello Monkeys,
I plan to transfer to a US university in Fall 2015. My applications should start this fall. I didn't get a very competitive SAT score (2000) during high school so I am considering retaking it next year. My targets are Vandy, Emory, UVA, Tufts. Did you successful transfers retake your SATs before applying?

I didn't, but I had a 2250+. I don't think it makes sense re-taking the SAT. Don't go into college with the mindset that you want to transfer without having spent even a day at your new university. It'll be a miserable year.

I didn't retake and got into Villanova with scores that were slightly above their class's mid-range. I didn't retake because I didn't want to pay all the fees associated with the application, so I aimed for places that I'd have a decent chance of getting in. I'm not sure how favorably or unfavorably admissions look at college students retaking the SATs, but if it's favorably, then sure why not. You're probably better off looking at college confidential because they have a lot more transfer students who have gone through the process.

I got into Vandy, Emory and UNC chapel hill without retaking the SAT. Had about a 1900. If your application shows any indication of major growth since when you took it initially, it will be discounted and won't hurt you too much.
