HBS 2+2 interview advice

Question: would you advise doing in person interview? Currently in Beijing and was thinking about a Skype interview. They say there's no disadvantage, but I wonder.
Hey! Congrats. I am lucky enough to be located in Boston. I prefer f2f interaction. If I were you, I would travel to London or SF.

It's always a plus to interview in person because your interviewers will be able to feel your energy and hear your answers without interruption as Skype often has problems. Good luck to you. [email protected]

Update- Bad news: Got dinged from GSB; Good news: Got an offer from HBS' 2+2.

Also, I didn't fly to London or SF. I did Skype interview.

Congratulations on your interview invitation. The questions are rapid fire, but they are all about you. I'm a huge proponent of mock interviews because it eases your interview day jitters. Make certain that your mock interviewers read your file thoroughly. Natalie@Accepted.

Chance for an interview at HBS 2+2 program
Pros: 1. GPA: 3.65 (3.4 as freshman improving to 4.0 as junior) 2. GMAT: 770 3. Ethnicity: Eastern European 4. Undergrad: Math/econ major and attend a top target school for free by having financial aid/multiple outside scholarships 5. Languages: Spanish, Arabic, native Eastern European language, and English 6. Work experience: Three summers finance internships - same company - one of the top ten finance companies in the world asset more than $25 billion (buy side experience). 7. Recommendations - strong recommendations, however professors are not eminent in their field 8. Leadership experience: Multiple activities/recognized in an activity on national level. 9. Strong Essays 10. National level awards in multiple activities.
Problems: 1. Need lots of $$$$$$$$ in financial aid to attend school as belong to a poor eatern europena family. 2. No family connection in finance/HBS 3. Not an excellent communicator in English, however good command in other languages. Compensate it by quant skills.
Raise your GPA to a 4.0 and you can be Greg Lippmann's new eastern European quant.
Would the current 4.0 GPA as a junior help as I struggled feshman year by chewing too much in extra curriuclar activities?

Your profile's great, but I don't think you're the kind of person 2+2's targeting. 2+2 is meant to attract more engineers, researchers, ngo workers, and similar professionals, i.e., people who don't normally apply to Bschool. I say this from personal experience (a few of my friends are doing the 2+2 program, and they're all engineers) and from past class profiles (http://www.hbs.edu/mba/profiles/classprofile_2+2.html).
No harm in trying, however. Good luck!

as above. 2+2 is meant for people who wouldn't normally consider doing an MBA like doctors, engineers,etc. Your GPA is not an issue BUT you're studying Econ AND have finance internships which are a big big no no for this particular program. In their eyes, you look as the typical finance guy (the less "typical" your profile is, the more chances for success you have) who WOULD consider applying for an MBA a few years down the road. 2+2 is not targeted for that, quite the opposite, it is instead targeted to people who WOULD NOT normally consider doing an MBA. As for your chances, pretty much close to 0. You would be better off by applying in your senior year via normal entry.
The interview is insanely fast paced, they fired 23 questions in 30min time for me. Back at the time it felt horrible because they get you off the script quickly, but in retrospect - that was a good thing, because we managed to cover many topics. It's actually really hard to prepare for it - you never know what they are gonna ask.
Before the interview go through your experiences - understand why you did something, whether it lived up to your expectations and what did you learn (and how it helped you later). I think, if the question calls for it, it's also good to talk about experiences and motivations that are not conveyed in your CV or application. The purpose of the interview is literally "to get to know more about you", so anything that is left out of the application but indicates you are a good fit for the program will probably help more than reinforcing what's already written. They may also ask you to explain a complicated piece of work/idea you've built. Apart from being able to break it down in simple terms know why it's important. I suspect they do this to check if you're a good fit for the case method. Finally, it helps to show you really want an MBA and from HBS specifically as it relates to your career vision.
My best advice on the interview itself is to answer the question at hand (instead of telling them what you want to say), be honest (because there will be follow up questions) and err on the side of brevity (because it's in your best interest to cover many sides of your application). Good luck!

I was aware of a HBS 2+2 group but it seems to have restricted access and I haven't been granted permission even though I requested it around 2 weeks ago.
