^Dick head. Again, the only schools that'll catch the streets eye are the "targets" that are beat to death on here. Long as you don't go to a community college & keep a exceptionally high GPA you can network your way in from any decent school. It's def no guarantee though. I'm over simplifying the process, but all it takes is one word from senior level guy to hr or whoever is handling resume's to give you a second look. If you've got something they want/like, you have a good chance of getting a call to at least see if your not an idiot.

I know of a handful of people from Hofstra who broke into BB IB - there might be more, and there are also a handful of students from most decent schools in make it into BB IB - so it's not saying anything terribly spectacular about the school. That said, Hofstra is a solid school that is trying to build the rep of its business school - it's possible to break into banking from there with high grades, networking, etc, but it is definitely not a target or semi-target for IB.

There are much better options surrounding the school, if you're looking to stay local for the cost head to Fordham. If you're living at home, and given 516 in your name I'm presuming you are, Old Westbury would cost $5,000 versus Hofstra's $50,000. Don't see why you would choose it unless you're receiving a full scholarship.

I got an $18K scholarship at Hofstra. I got rejected by Fordham over some BS reasoning. Not to get into all the details, it was primarily because I'm now 30 and they wanted to put me in their "continuing education" school that didn't offer finance and they were afraid I couldn't hack it there, although I was transferring with a 3.93 GPA from my CC.

I always thought Hofstra was like a Devry or something. Try to get into Baruch like prospect suggested.
