How much does B-school brand matter 10 yrs post MBA?
Would love views from people 10yrs out of B-school. I am attending a top 10 US B-school (Tuck). I wish to move back to Asia in the mid term after a few years in consulting. How much does your Bschool brand matter after you spent time working? My question is more around the lack of awareness of Tuck back in my country, if someone in Asia can shed some light on this would be helpful.
Does it really matter in the long run on where you went to school? If yes, is Tuck that far behind that I have to work much harder to get my foot in at places?
Thanks a lot!
Lol classic Asian obsessed with external validation from "prestige." Dartmouth is an ivy, and should be good enough to land you anywhere outside of VC/PE.
Also, the CEO of Apple went to Duke Fuqua, and the CEO of Microsoft went to Booth.. Senior rainmakers across BB's went to considerably worse schools. 10 years from now what will hold you back is your career experience and personal reputation, not your school of choice.
B-schools really matter in that they 1) place you into your 1st post-MBA job and 2) the network you develop (both at the b-school and in your 1st job post-MBA).
That first job post-MBA is the building block of your entire career. in 10 yrs, ppl will care much less about where you got your MBA, VS how you used it.
In other words, rock placement post-MBA and you'll be fine.
Good luck.
