Based on the most helpful WSO content, Baruch College is often considered a semi-target school, particularly for finance roles in New York City. Its strong location advantage in NYC and a solid alumni network contribute to its reputation. Baruch is known for placing students into investment banking (IB) roles, especially at boutique and middle-market firms, and has a decent track record for consulting placements as well.
Choosing Baruch over UB (University at Buffalo) for an MS in Finance could be a good decision if your primary goal is to leverage the NYC location for networking and job opportunities in finance. Baruch's proximity to Wall Street and its affordability make it an attractive option for students aiming to break into finance.
Suggestions:
If your goal is to work in NYC's finance industry, Baruch is a strong choice. However, if UB offers a unique program or significant financial aid, you may want to weigh the ROI carefully.

You’ve created 5 posts asking about Baruch already… Short answer for the MSF program is a no.
Yes. Beacuse I am not getting a proper detailed answer. I have to choose UB or Baruch and I am stuck b/w these two. Can you tell me why no?
Both of them do not have a strong reputation for their graduate programs in terms of placement and brand name but Baruch has a slight edge being in NYC. That said, if you're not willing to spend a few hours researching where you'll be spending the next two years, it raises serious questions about your commitment. Breaking into banking from a nontarget requires initiative and drive, coming from another nontarget kid.
Tha ks for the info. Can you let me know from which non-target school have you done your studies? Also, if possible if you can share me your details in which I could reach you? Would be a great help! :)
The specific school doesn’t really matter as the process for non target/non core recruiting is largely similar. The degree doesn’t help you stand out — it’s a bare minimum. Without on campus recruiting and finance alumni base, you’re forced to send out cold emails and chat with whoever you can get your hands on (coffee chats would be slightly easier in person with Baruch). Personally sent out roughly 500 emails throughout the recruiting cycle and know classmates with 1-2k emails.
