LSE Accounting & Finance vs. St Gallen Banking & Finance

Question:

  1. Which Master should I go for? Which Master would give me the best chance of reaching my goals?
  2. Given my profile and current work experience, are my goals unrealistic? (Brutal honesty please)

Goal: My goal is to work at a top-tier IB in order to eventually join a growth equity fund (e.g. TPG, GA, EQT, Triton, CapVis etc.)

Current Profile:

  • I graduated from a non-target university with a 3.5 GPA equivalent and an exchange at Bocconi.

  • 720 GMAT

  • Internships: M&A at Grant Thornton, Advisory Services at Big 4, Startup focussed on renewables

  • Additional: Worked part-time at a VC during university. Recently founded my own tech startup, which builds software for influencers

Context:

  • I grew up in London, but I have German parents. I speak both languages fluently and have done all of my internship in Germany.

  • Although I would like to work in London, my priority is to get an internship/job at the best investment bank possible.

Best bank possible = point for London

LSE target for London, St. Gallen not really.

Also, do all of the funds you mentioned have significant operations in Germany? If not, that's another point for London.

You're probably better off going to LSE.

Have a look at Pan European Monkey's FAQ on London recruitment.

uhh i meant switzerland*

Anyway...

Also, your profile is decent and you have directly relevant experience so you should do fine in recruiting for IB in London from a target.
