Masters in Econ, then IB
Is it possible to break into IB after completing your Masters in Econ (right after completing your undergraduate degree)? If so, what do people do during the summer between their undergrad degree completion and masters program start?
This is a difficult question to answer without having more context. It depends on if your undergrad was from a target uni, and same goes for your masters. I would say most people
I see breaking in post-masters tend to have studied finance for their post-grad degree, however. In the summer… most will be doing an internship to try and convert. If they don’t, they’ll use the experience to try and re-recruit elsewhere.
Thanks, I go to one of the Ivy+ schools and am planning to do Masters at one of the Ivy+ schools too.
Then, is it possible to enter the top banks like GS, MS and JYP as an Economist after masters?
I see; apologies - I thought you were referring to the UK system! Ignore my previous advice... besides the summer internship, perhaps.
Prob not as THE covering economist, but yes certainly in a supporting role in research or strategy at the analyst level (with associate not too far away)
