NYU (Part Time) vs Columbia (EMBA)

Good evening,

I was recently admitted to NYU in their part time MBA program and Columbia for their EMBA program.

I am 27, live in NY and work in reinsurance. I have my own reasons on picking one or the other, but ultimately am having a difficult time deciding on which one would be best.

Was wondering what your thoughts would be on the best school given my age, industry, etc.

Thank you

When I was looking around for an MBA the question came up of part time or full time. As I weighed the differences I came to the conclusion that FT was the way to go because my grades would suffer if I went PT, my day job is very demanding and that included working long hours etc. So, I decided to give up over two years of income and go FT but this was based on me knowing myself and how I deal with stress/pressure etc. How well do you know yourself? if you are gonna go to an M7 school I would suggest you look at the web site Poets and Quants, they have a list of which school is better in terms of getting a job once you are done, stern is a good school but Columbia has several advantages.

Either way, an MBA is well worth it and I wish you well on your journey!

Ultimately I'd like to stay in the reinsurance industry and use this to propel my career at my current company forward.

One concern I have with the emba program is that the average age is 33 and while I don't mind meeting people who are older than me a big part of what I'm looking for is to also build out a professional / social network. Being 27 it would seem that NYU's program may be better suited. This is only a small part of what I'm thinking of so please don't think this is the only factor.

NYU PT much better option. Columbia sucks for finance. Extremely out dated and irrelevant curriculum.
