Post-MBA Associate Recruiting for Life Sciences IB – Bank Recommendations, Pay, and Culture
I’ll be starting at a top 5 MBA program this fall and am recruiting for investment banking at the associate level. My background is in big pharma, and I’m particularly interested in biopharma/biotech M&A deals.
I’m agnostic to location (NY, SF, Menlo Park, etc.) and am trying to figure out:
- Which bulge brackets and elite boutiques have the strongest life sciences coverage (especially biopharma/biotech M&A) and should be top targets for recruiting.
- How these banks compare in terms of pay for associates.
- Any meaningful differences in culture or hours across the top firms, even though I know the hours will be long everywhere.
- If there’s a clear “sweatshop” reputation at any particular bank in this space.
Would appreciate any firsthand insights or comparisons from people in life sciences IB or with friends/colleagues in the space.
