Recommended MBA: London Business School, HEC Paris, or INSEAD?

So in the US they have the M7. And in Europe there's no formal group, but I think these three make the top 3 in Europe arguably. (4-7 would be Said, Judge, IE, IESE but debatable).

Among these three, what's the pros and cons from your POVs and which one do you recommend the most?

Personally, I got my eyes on European MBA rather than the US.

Ah, the age-old question of which MBA program to choose! It's like trying to pick the best banana in the bunch, isn't it?

Based on the most helpful WSO content, all three schools you mentioned - London Business School, HEC Paris, and INSEAD - are highly regarded, especially in Europe.

London Business School is known for its strong emphasis on finance and its location in one of the world's financial capitals. It's a great choice if you're looking to work in London post-MBA.

HEC Paris, on the other hand, has a strong reputation in Europe and is particularly well-regarded in France. If you're considering working in France or with French companies, this could be a good choice.

INSEAD is known for its intensive one-year program and its strong international focus. It's a great choice if you're looking for a quick turnaround and a truly global MBA experience.

As for which one to recommend, it really depends on your personal goals and circumstances. If you're looking to work in London, then London Business School might be the best fit. If you're interested in working in France or with French companies, then HEC Paris could be a good choice. And if you're looking for a quick, intensive, and international MBA experience, then INSEAD could be the way to go.

Remember, there's no one-size-fits-all answer here. The best MBA program for you is the one that aligns with your career goals and personal circumstances. So take your time, do your research, and choose the program that feels like the best fit for you. Good luck!

1) Gotta consider where you want to be working. Look at employment reports and see where they feed. INSEAD is prob a bit more random in its distribution. HEC more continential EU and LBS UK+ME+Asia? Just guessing.

2) HEC is probably 3rd in this group and most would tell you Said and Judge are much lower, the quality of candidates is just so bad.

It depends on your back ground. INSEAD as a 1yr program poses some challenges (only can do internship if you start in January), faster recruiting etc. Thus, if you are a career switcher it is not as recommended. Whereas LBS and HEC being 2yrs is more advantageous in this regard.

Whoever hit me with MS - do you go to Oxford Said?

Of the 3, Insead / LBS are clearly the top two in Europe. Insead is considered more prestigious than LBS, and certainly has more global name recognition (Insead has multiple campuses around the world and a very extensive executive education portfolio globally).

However, LBS has one major advantage which is London. If you want to live and work in London, going to a London school like LBS helps with overall networking and visa. LBS also sends way more students into banking / high finance (even if Insead is seen as more “elite” as evidenced by continental Europe having boutique PE funds only hiring (Harvard, Stanford, Wharton and Insead MBAs). A lot of numbers are obviously due to self selection, and you ultimately see a ton of senior Insead folks in PE after completing their MBB PE team stint.

At the end of the day, both are great, Insead is the Harvard of Europe and LBS is the Wharton equivalent. You can get the same out of both schools - it’s just a slight difference in prestige and student selectivity but fairly marginal. If you get more scholarship dollars from LBS (or want a two year program), go there.

Unfortunately for LBS is it operates in a city where it gets drowned out by many other good schools (you will be shocked by how many people confuse LBS with LSE even in the industry). With Oxbridge MBAs gaining steam too, LBS has been struggling to attract higher quality students and recent cohort quality is on the decline. If you look at Insead vs LBS alumni lists - the gap in quality is beginning to widen imho.
