Second Semester MBA/Finance non targetted school. Need Guidance

Hello,

Happy Holidays! I stumbled on this forum a couple weeks ago and I noticed there's a great presence of working professionals in this community. I would love to hear your input and suggestions about my situation. I'll begin with my educational background/experience then i''ll list the questions.

Educational Background/Experience
I finished my undergraduate degree in Sociology Administrative Studies with a concentration Marketing in 2011. During my undergraduate career, I was part of various student organizations, founded a couple of national organizations and established two fraternities/chapters on campus where I held all leadership positions. After graduation, I was one of the many who experienced the down turn of the economy; at the same time, my student loan grace up was up so I had to take any job that comes my way. Luckily, I was hired as a part-time valet and was then promoted to account manager where I worked a total of ten month and quit (due to terrible work/life balance). Before my promotion, I had the opportunity to start a few gigs (gigs=business) that is eBay gig, mobile notary service gig, and financial coaching gig. This was the phase where I gained the most practical business experience. With that said, this is all the experience I have; I know I still have a lot to learn.

I will be starting my second semester in January 2014. I only have 1.5 years left before I return to the working life. I'm in the youngest in my program and with the least amount of working experience. I feel that I'm at a disadvantage because the more experienced folks are getting the part-time/internships left and right while I'm studying my ass off (4.1 my first semester).

Long-term goal: After I'm done with the program, I want to get into the corporate finance field as a financial analyst.
Short-term goal: To get a finance related Internship for Spring and Summer, to gain practical experience and skills. Aside from working, what can I do to buff up my resume?

Self-Study
What should I be reading?
What kind of technical skills should I know?

What I have in mind for my upcoming semester: class & internship/part time work. Should I be doing more?
