Spring week advice

I’m starting university this September with offers for Economics at LSE and Bristol. To get a foot in the door, I’m aiming for spring weeks in my first year. I don’t have any finance experience yet; just tutoring and a bit of retail.

I’m interested in how I can start preparing for spring week apps over the summer, and what societies are good to join at uni

Gods'Fiddy got a weird case why he still around?

elaborate

  1. Get into LSE - Not only will this help you with spring weeks; It’s a better name and will land you more summer internships come second year. Bristol is still good but not same level

  2. Stay informed with a tracker - Trackr (formerly Bristol Tracker) is the best. You can’t get spring weeks if you don’t know when they open. Most are rolling meaning first come first serve.

  3. Perfect your CV - Don’t want your application thrown out before you have a chance to impress them

  4. Prepare HireVue answers - Don’t memorise, but prepare and use STAR framework.

  5. Network - May not help much for Spring Weeks because strongly led by HR but will help to start and MAINTAIN relationships for second year internship applications

It does not matter if you don’t get Spring Weeks offers. What matters is you constantly improve throughout the application process. This will put you in a MUCH better position for second year internship applications which can give return offers.
