SSE mbm or Bocconi CEMS

Hi everyone! :)

I'm having a hard time choosing between:

1/ Bocconi MSc in International Management + CEMS

2/ SSE MSc in Business and Management

Luckily to receive full scholarship from both schools so it's more about which school could lead to a better career development.

I'm an Asian student, zero working experience; still haven't figured out what my career path would be;

I'm aware for a non-European, networking and brand name are more important when seeking a job.

And my main concerns are:
1.curriculum design:
SSE mbm is slightly similar to a Mba program that develops student's soft skills to be a manager

(really awkward and impractical since I have 0 work experience)

2. internship and job opportunities:
Not fluent in both languages, I might need to go to other European countries for an intern. However in Stockholm there might have a bigger chance for a job?

I'd love to hear any opinion from you guys! Thank you so much!

Tough choice, even though Bocconi is a better uni I would go to SSE. Too difficult to find a job in Italy and salaries are terrible. Sweden is a good country for expats and salaries are really good. You can always switch to London after 1-2 years. Good luck

What about the language issue for non swedish speakers?

You will be a big disadvantage if you do not speak Swedish

Thanks!  Your suggestion is very useful!

Going to school in SSE and accumulating internship experience in Sweden is indeed more practical for my situation. When it comes to recruiting, I guess nothing beats a local uni & internship experiences, even a better brand name right?

Yes, nothing beats a local school obviously. So London folks will always have an advantage so the difference between bocconi and SSE is not that large. Good luck!

Will chime in here as I studied at Bocconi as an international student.

Neither Bocconi will get you a job in Milan nor will SSE get you a job in Stockholm (in IB). If you attend either, you should aim for London as your profile will not be competitive when compared to local students. Naturally I am a bit biased, but Bocconi is much better recognized in Europe and has a better reputation / better ranking than SSE.

SSE is definitely a good school, but take a look at any of their alumni in IB and 90% of them are Scandinavian. You will not be able to land a job in Sweden without speaking one of the Nordic languages -- likewise at Bocconi you will not land a job in Milan/Italy if you are not fluent in Italian, so every other Italian student will have an advantage over you. Bocconi is much better for international students as the brand holds more weight in London and has a larger alumni base than SSE, so it will be easier to land a job. This is coming from a international Bocconi grad who didn't know any Italian and now works at a BB/EB outside of Italy.

Really appreciate your advice!

My biggest worry right now is that the economic situation and language issues in Milan won't make it easier for me to find an internship than in Stockholm.

If it's not too inappropriate, may I ask during your studies, what efforts did you make to get you a good job in London? Thank you!

As long as it’s in europe you will be able to find an internship especially pretty easily (bocconi student here, im ltalian but got some offers outside of italy)
