USC vs Emory

Hello. I have narrowed my selection of schools down to these two in the US. Wanted to know which is better for IB BB and EB/PE/VC/MBB placement. Have no preference working in NYC or LA/SF. Cost is not a factor, I am international student so the tuition is basically the same everywhere. I was also accepted to UT Austin McCombs and UVA, wanted to hear your thoughts on them. Additionally, wanted to know how Warwick (econ) compares to them, also don't mind working in London. Inputs are appreciated.

mccombs and uva are better than usc/emory for placement. between usc and emory im not too sure - for IB usc places well on the west coast less so in NY, would imagine emory has marginally better IB placement in NY and probably places well in the south. for consulting usc's mbb placement is mostly in LA/SF while emory kids basically all go to the atlanta office.

im biased but between the 2 schools usc is a lot more fun both on campus and off campus (we have school spirit, parties, sports) and you're in LA. have heard from friends at emory that it's more cutthroat and competitive over there, no school spirit or sports, and ATL is definitely not as fun as LA.

Are you sure that UVA/UT place better? Heard that people from UT only place from 1 club and that UVA it’s only McIntire. Also heard that 4.0 doesn’t guarantee McIntire, that why I’m hesitant for UVA. Also, apparently USC is a target on the west coast and Emory has very good per capita placement, 40 out of the 500 kids in Goizueta go to IB. Do you go to Marshall? If so, can you share your experience with how easy it is to get an internship and a job afterwards? Thanks.

UVA and UT definitely place better. heard that for UVA you dont join McIntire until junior year which is after recruiting so it doesnt matter. for UT placement, check out Xavier Sztejnberg's posts on linkedin - super impressive. i do go to marshall and i would say the difficulty of your recruiting experience will vary depending on several factors - demographics (diversity recruiting), location preference, visa sponsorship needs, and your personal connections. numbers wise, about 50 or so kids a year from usc get into IB

Hello. Thank you very much for your insight, it is very appreciated. I see all Emory grads strongly defending the uni. Could I PM you by any chance?

Im gonna say usc/ut/uva are all better bcs emory grads are annoying asf and swear theyre up there with the ivies.

never met one that doesnt act like atlanta is some top tier city up there with nyc and that emory isnt some crazy target

Tbh most emory people underplay the school. At least when I was there, the lack of school spirit was wild. There may be a few loud apples that you’ve met but as a whole the school is actually less on the bragging end.
