Vanderbilt MSF vs Georgetown MSF

Hi, I wanted to hear peoples thoughts about this choice. I recently received an acceptance to both programs. Vanderbilt gave me a 7.5k scholarship (I asked for more and I am hoping they provide some more. Georgetown gave me 5k in scholarships. I am hoping to break into IB after graduating if I choose to go (I don't mind MM). I am also from NYC and want to work in NYC after graduating. Which one should I choose? Or should I continue just working?

Some details about me:

  • 24 years old
  • Graduated in 2024 from Fordham University
  • 18-month Corporate Banking Analyst
  • Potential associate at a different bank (not confirmed yet)
  • 6 month Project Finance internship while in college
  • 2 startup accelerator extrernships while in college

You're 18 months working out of school? Don't take an MSF... work another year and start applying to MBA's.
The MSF is going to put you back in the same job pool as all of the undergrads, for analyst jobs, with no guarantee of the position you want. The MBA is going to give you a special pool of jobs, at the associate level, with more structured recruiting and opportunities. You get the chance to take an internship (potential return offer), or re-recruit that does not happen in the MSF

So i was in a “graduate trainee program” at a bank focused on operations. My contract there ended in december. I wouldn’t mind starting at a analyst position if it’s in IB.

a graduate training program is still a full time job, and your job title is XYZ analyst, not "graduate trainee."

but is your point you are currently unemployed?

i mean if the future forecast doesn't look good, then yes the msf is a good stop gap measure. But otherwise with nearly 2 years of work experience you are extremely better off waiting for the mba in my opinion.
