Where to get Masters

I am currently a senior graduating in May. I plan to get my masters of finance. So far have been admitted to Tulane with 50% scholarship and Bayes Business School. I have also applied to Vanderbilt, UT Austin, BC, and BU.

Vanderbilt is my top choice, but if I were not to get in there, which school has the best reputation. I hope to go into investment research after graduating. Does one of these schools have better opportunities than the rest? I am from the US, so I was wondering what the reputation of Bayes is like in London compared to the schools i applied to in the US.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here's a breakdown of the reputation and opportunities at the schools you've mentioned, particularly focusing on their standing in the finance community:

  • Tulane University: Tulane's Freeman School of Business is known for its strong finance programs and has a good reputation in the Southern United States. With a 50% scholarship, it offers a cost-effective option. Tulane has connections in the energy sector, particularly in Houston and Dallas, which could be beneficial for investment research roles in those industries.

  • Bayes Business School (formerly Cass): In London, Bayes Business School carries a strong reputation, especially within the UK and Europe. It's known for its finance and management programs. Being in London, the financial capital of Europe, could provide you with ample networking opportunities and exposure to the investment research community.

  • Vanderbilt University: Vanderbilt is highly regarded and has the best placement among the schools you've listed, according to WSO threads. It has a strong alumni network and is known for its rigorous academics. If you're aiming for investment research, Vanderbilt's reputation could open doors, especially on Wall Street.

  • UT Austin: The McCombs School of Business at UT Austin is a well-respected institution, especially in Texas and for finance. It has strong finance organizations on campus and a pipeline to NYC through Wall Street for McCombs and the Investment Banking Association. UT Austin places many graduates into Houston's finance scene, which is rich with investment research opportunities, particularly in energy.

  • Boston College (BC): BC's Carroll School of Management is known for its strong finance program and has a good reputation on the East Coast. It has a solid alumni network that could be beneficial for careers in investment research.

  • Boston University (BU): BU's Questrom School of Business is a reputable institution with a growing finance program. It's located in a major city, which could provide networking opportunities and exposure to various financial firms.

If Vanderbilt doesn't work out, consider the reputation of UT Austin and Boston College, as well as the unique opportunity at Bayes Business School to network in London's financial district. Ultimately, the best school for you will also depend on where you want to work geographically and the specific connections to the investment research industry that each school offers.
