Which Business Schools should I apply to?
Hi everyone, just wanted to ask for some advice on which B-schools to apply to.
Male, white, 27
Underaged GPA: 2.9 - Economics Non target state school ranked top 80 US news
Graduate GPA: 3.5 - Econometrics and Quantitative Economics Non target state school ranked top 80 US news
GMAT- 660 First time I have no issues taking it again if you guys advise that
5 Years work experience - Federal reserve
5 Years of community service
Any advice is appreciated I understand its not the strongest application out there but just trying to test the waters for a career change into finance or consulting.
Definitely try to retake the GMAT. Aim for 700+
You need to get that GMAT up.
Your 2.9 UG GPA is a problem and needs to be offset by a high GMAT. Sure the grad degree helps somewhat, but, still you need to boost your GMAT.
Let’s say I get that 700 which schools should I apply to?
What do you want to do? Would aim as high as you can for the gmat...
If I do get a 700 would top 20 be out of the question?
Not out of the question, but a lot of it depends on what you want to do.
I've had friends with stats like yours get dinged from T20 programs, and others get into M7/T10 programs...a lot of it came down to their WE/essays/goals.
I would say crush the gmat, then crush the essays. Very strong essays take a very long time to put together.
If you don't have a clear idea of a post-MBA goal and how the targeted b-school is going to help you get there (at least to tell the adcom), it really doesn't' matter what your gmat is...going to be hard to get in...
Any advice on what makes a strong essay?
