Don’t know what to do after nyse
Hi I’m 19yr old. I got an internship at nyse as a clerk and that’s what I’ve been doing for a year now. I have SIE and series 63 and my company is offering me for series 7 too. I study as a sophomore currently in non target university doing bachelor of science in business economics and my gpa is 2.74 I can try and bring above 3 before applying internships for 2026. I want to have career in sales and trading but at the same time I want to do investment banking. My initial plan was to graduate and see how it is in sales and trading and then do mba from a prestigious university and move to IB. What should I pursue and I’m guessing I only have a choice at sales and trading at moment since I have experience? I’d also want to know how is it working in sales and trading without doing any related stuff with quant and math and computer languages? Thanks
Young kids who refuse to learn coding are the worst.
But if you want to avoid "doing any related stuff with quant and math..." but still enjoy markets go ahead into sales. Clerk is a good spot for this so keep doing well and aim for a BB sales desk.
Not sure why I got the MS. It's pretty rare to hear someone of your age working on the literal NYSE floor so that's definitely valuable experience, especially for a BB sales desk.
thanks for your advice, What exactly is the full form of BB?
Try one more time, reword the question so that it doesn’t sound like you have a 2.7 GPA
A long time ago people like you would’ve gotten seats on the sales desk for your “grit” and firm handshake or whatever working on the floor.
But today, given your situation and lack of skills (both writing and technical), you just gotta network. Emphasize the NYSE experience.
If you dont do that, you’ll be eaten alive and stuck being eye candy on CNBC for the rest of us on real trading floors
Everything about this sounds so unintelligent. Get your gpa up and read online about the industry.
For the love of god please take an intro writing class
Is your terrible writing a stylistic choice? Really difficult to parse. Get your GPA up and try to find upperclassmen at your school who are headed into roles you’re interested in. Ask them how they got interviews and prepared for them.
