Female Traders?

I realise that trading is very much a man's forte, however with the advent of technology has that changed? Are there any female traders you would call credible? I have looked and genuinely cant find any - could someone name some names? What I find genuinely baffling is many female traders work a few years on a trading floor and then move into journalism or fintech and even jewellery design (lol). Feel free to be honest, even at the risk off being offensive. thanks

I didn't give you monkey shit. Nor do I have time to be that petty and there are plenty of female traders and portfolio managers that are killing it. They’re just unheard of because they aren’t publicized like Ray Dalio or Jim Simons... not a lot of people want to have that kind of spot light on them. As long as they’re recognized in the industry, that’s all that matters. Outside of finance, they don’t care.

stop crying about it and go make some money for banks and get promoted. P.S. men hate the whole muh gender holding me back narrative. You wont find sympathy which is what it feels like youre looking for.

Dawn Fitzpatrick at Soros. Not a trader anymore, but it's where she started. Ina Drew ex-JPM CIO.

I used to do Asia-Pacific PE (kind of like FoF). Now I do something else but happy to try and answer questions on that stuff.

Terri Duhon. Studied math at MIT and then worked at JPM for 10 years as a derivative trader. Now she's Chair of Board of MS investment management. Attended one of her talks once, she's truly exceptional and had a way of capturing the audience.

i've worked at 6+ investment banks over my career..all on various trading desks...never once did i (a=or any of my colleagues i think) look down on the female traders..in fact it was the opposite...we cheered them on and wanted them to succeed...but at the end of the day, you are responsible or your own trades..and your P&L is yours, and yours alone. you take input from everybody, and everything...but then you distill it in your own mind and make your own trading decisions. some people will think one thing, but say something else as a way of mentally hedging...you see that a lot...you just have to understand that YOU must take personal responsibility for YOUR career. NOBODY else will do that for you.

we cheered them on and wanted them to succeed

This is true, and even I have had this experience.

Great points overall everyone, esp self-reliance, aggressiveness, individual thought & personal responsibility.

I will now stfu on the matter forever, much to everyones relief =)

I think there are lot more female traders on the sell side out there (at least in Rates as I speak to many on a daily basis, mostly swap traders; cash bonds tho it's a bit old school), but I can say on behalf of many that we are generally not really into attending every single piss up and lols with some of the male counterparts as we age. Also attending any of the conferences/Macro round tables etc you find the female traders tend to keep their opinions to themselves (which is not necessarily a good thing) . The ratio drastically drops on the buy-side as they didn't really need to do any of the 'gender diversification' campaigns that the sell side had to do in the last few years. The numbers then drop exponentially more to find senior female partners on the buys-side. I never worked for a firm whereby I felt I was treated differently due to my gender. But I do find vs my male counterparts I need to do a bit more internal selling as sometimes you pick up PnL convexity when you know how to market yourself. But at the end of the day, as someone above put it, PnL is the king and I live and die by a number.
