FX sales vs strategy

What are people’s thoughts on positions in FX sales vs a strategist position? Seems like strategy would be more technical but let client interaction. If one wanted to move to the buy side or to trading, would sales be a viable path? And would strategy require higher degrees in economics to advance beyond entree level positions?

BOth can move to buyside or trading but Strats have much realistic possibility for that. Strats usually have advanced degree in compsci/math/financial engineering/stats, those STEM fields.

For trading strats can lateral to trading very easily. For HFs they would usually try to exit to quant HFs early in their career, or just move to trading and exit to HF after becoming senior. Sales person, definitely possible for rare tbh.
