Non Quant background for FICC

I am highly interested in pursuing FICC and Equities at GS. I am at a target school, majoring in economics. I have a deep interest in macroeconomics and would love to work at a firm trading a pure macro product like rates linear. I was wondering if I need a quant background for that role. Ideally, I would trade OTC products; regardless, I wanted to know if I could pursue a role like that without a quant/CS background. Any insight is greatly appreciated.
