Trading internship opportunities in Europe
Hello everyone,
this is the first time I write anything here so I'm sorry if I'm doing something wrong.
I have been interested in trading my whole life, literally since the elementary school and I bought my first stock when I was 12. I continued with my education in finance and I continued participating in trading competitions, case studies, stock exchange academy, etc.
Now I'm finished with my 4th year of university and I'm search for an internship in trading/analysis, to be more precise in proprietary trading firms or hedge fund. Most of the opportunities I saw were based in US followed by Singapore and Hong Kong. I understand there are some opportunities in Amsterdam and London but not as many nor as attractive to those overseas.
Does anybody know any prop trading firms that offer good internship programs for students in EU?
Any input would be appreciated! Thank you in advance.
Most of the prop firms are quants: Jane Street, Citadel Securities, HRT, 5 rings, Maven, Akuna, Optiver, DRW, G-research, 2sigman, DE Shaw, Jump, Flow Traders and IMC are the only ones I can think of.
Thank you very much for your input!
I am aware of those firms but they really do not offer much in terms of trading internships in EU, I applied for Optiver and IMC couple of days ago but rest of the companies either don't offer good EU opportunities or they don't fit my CV and education.
I don't have pure math and or pure physics education as some of them require, I have extensive education in finance so I'm little bit hesitant in applying for them. Do you maybe have any info on how important is it to have that pure extensive mathematical knowledge?
I mean you need a strong STEM background since quant trading relies pretty heavily on mathematical ability. Note i say ability, not necessarily knowledge. Unlikely to break in with a finance degree, unfortunately. The only alternative I can think of is doing S&T at a bank.
Wtf, how are you going to buy stock when you are 12?
You dont stop pressuring your parents and asking them to use their ID's to open broker account.. pretty simple haha, and then they transfer stocks to your when you turn 18
