Wharton to host Houston Energy Panel 7/31/2012

Has anyone heard about the Houston Energy Panel hosted by Wharton? I posted this in the Business School Forum but thought the energy guys out there might be interestred. Although I am not in the energy industry I am interested in that sector post MBA and am a Houston resident so going it's a no brainer.

I think a Wharton MBA should get you into the energy trading program at most places. Trafigura ? Noble ? Vitol? BP? Perhaps someone more knowledgeable than me can comment

I'm pretty sure those major energy trading firms don't recruit at MBA programs, at least not formal on-campus company presentations and interviews. But correct me if I'm wrong.

Where do they get their traders from then? Experienced traders outside their firm and/or back office people that are just working their way through the ranks?

Seems like to get my foot in the door on a trading desk I'd have to get the MBA to open the door to an energy company that does recruit from similar programs and then transition from that position to a trading desk.

See, I don't have a finance undergrad degree or previous finance WE so further schooling seems like an option in. Of course there are countless other ways but this seems more natural. Wrong/Right?

Even if they don't , shouldn't those stats at least get you an interview?
