Premed to Healthcare VC/Finance/Consulting
Hey guys! I'm new here and I'm looking for some honest career advice.
I finished a B.S. in Biochemistry in 2020 (3.5 GPA) , and started a Master's program in Biomed Sciences (3.8 GPA) of which I've finished one year. I took a Leave of Absence at the beginning of the second year of the program because I started having doubts about how much I wanted to do medicine, starting to hate the culture of medicine, and have concerns about going into serious 6-figure debt as I have no financial help from family. I sincerely wish I could have come to these conclusions before I graduated, but I was gung-ho about becoming a GI doctor and I had bad tunnel vision, and didn't explore any other career options before it was too late. Currently, I've been working as a research assistant in an oncology lab for the past 9 months while figuring out what other careers I want to go into.
I don't have much experience with finance or business, but I loved learning about it in the few electives I took, and would love to learn more about financial modeling and research. My resume is filled with hospital volunteering, research, leadership, shadowing, etc. but I'm openminded and I would be happy to transition to multiple fields, including healthcare VC, private equity, IB, or management consulting. For example, a job that really appeals to me at the moment would be to work for McKinsey in healthcare consulting, and try to work my way up from there (long shot, I know). I also have an ex-premed friend who works for BofA in IB and I can see myself thriving in something like that as well.
Is there anyway a person of my background can break into business or finance? I'm supposed to start the second year of my Master's program in a couple of weeks, but I'm considering withdrawing and looking for jobs and working ASAP. I've given thought to MSF and MBA programs, but I currently just don't have the money to do more schooling.
Other concerns: My partner is a medical student in the NYC area, and I'm looking to stay in the Northeast as well. I have some loans to pay off, but thankfully it's not much, and I can knock them out as long as I start working soon.
Any advice or guidance would be much appreciated!

One of my friends went to Harvard Med School and instead of becoming a doctor, she went into Healthcare M&A.
