Venture Capital Boutique

Hey guys,

I am invited to an interview at a VC boutique.

First of all this comes out of nowhere to me so I'd like to clarify some questions I have. Is venture capital derived from private equity? From the research I did today it seems fairly similar. What do you guys think about VC? ie: Is it good to get some insight into the industry and is it a 'plus' on the curriculum vitae? What do ppl in venture capital actually do - is it modelling or market analysis etc?

Any advise? Thanks!

I think your experience can vary drastically from firm to firm, but I would go for it. My close friend interns at a small VC firm (three people total, including him) and he has an amazing experience. Will literally run entire phone calls with management, screen business plans and investments, help model and valuate pre-screened investments, helps structure the investment, due diligence, etc. You should get great exposure.

Just make sure the firm would involve you with all stages of the investment process and not just business development. And in regards to your general questions about VC- google can tell you this.
