What is Market Growth Equity Comp Right Now?

Mu understanding is that market comp for MM PE is ~300k, with UMM/MF paying above that and capping around ~400k at the outliers (Apollo/WP).

I assume the Insight/TA/GA guys pay MF PE level, but what is "market" for GE? Are there any benchmarks for funds >500mm, >1bn, >5bn, etc.?

even without carry their cash comp is still very competitive fwiw

Recently went through PE recruiting for Tier 1 cities associate roles. I would say market comp for MM is ~$250k with UMM/MFs paying $300k - $350k. I would expect closer to $250k for GE shops.

Isn’t that low for MM? Given $300k was the comp not too long ago for MM. also curious what’s the breakdown between base & bonus, 50/50? Secondly, how do you define MM? $2-$5 bn latest fund?

Unless you really want the PE experience, consulting is becoming more and more of a good option over GE for those who know they don't want to go the classic buyout route. You can come in at the post MBA level in consulting if you fully complete your 2 years in banking to come in at 220-250, have business school guaranteed to be paid for, and be much more likely to make manager making 300-350+(compared to senior associate/VP in GE). The comp discount in GE forces you to think hard about it unless you land at a high comp GE shop like Insight/GA/MF growth arm/etc.

Current 1st year associate - $270k total comp + additional bonuses if you source a deal, at a firm who’s latest fund was between $1-5b

can you elaborate on rough range for those additional bonuses? How common is it to actually source a deal your first year?

You mind dropping what the firms names were? Would appreciate any insight
