American capital - Any experiences?
I was just wondering what wso's thoughts were on this PE firm located right outside of DC? Also, if anyone has worked for them and wants to share what their experience was like.
Thanks.

Can I get a read on comp for Pre MBA associates? I know acas pays below market but want some concrete numbers. Thanks.
Would be great to be able to get some info on this firm.
heard it isnt the best place to work. its publicly traded so theres a lot of internal BS to do which really adds the hours of work. comp is slightly below market as well.
BDCs in general have lower comp due to the public nature of the company - American is one of the biggest though, so that could play into your decision.
BDC, lower comp, hit really hart by the recession. They overpaid on the buyout side and overextended on the credit side. Lots of the top guys left IMO. It's still around, but it's definitely a shell of its former self.
Was a big-time group in the mid-2000s.
what are the exit opps like?
MM PE, DD/SSG HF/PE funds (i.e. Victory Park), Mezz Lenders, BDCs
