Charlotte Intern Living
I'll be in Charlotte, NC as an IB summer intern. I'm unfamiliar with the area and would like input on where to live for 10 weeks. An analyst recommended Elements and Catalyst, but I'm looking for other options.
Thanks!

yetimoney, sorry about the lack of response. Maybe one of these topics will help:

Gotcha, thanks. I saw those posts before, but some were outdated or not relevant for my situation.
You could get a place in the Vue and be neighbors with our girl Justine Tobin.
There are plenty of luxury high rises in Uptown Charlotte. They're all cookie cutter and virtually all the same. I'm not sure which ones do shorter-term leases, so I cannot help you there, but Charlotte has dramatically increased the amount of luxury high rises in the past 5-10 years. That's why so many of those threads from the bot are outdated.
EDIT: Uptown Charlotte is also incredibly small, so regardless of where you're working, you can live in any of the four wards and realistically still walk to work.
Second Vue. Bring more weights.
Catalyst is probably the most common for summer IB analysts from my experience. If you want cheaper options some interns lived in the Queens University or Johnson & Wales University dorms. Not sure if the Vue does short term leases but I would guess they don't.
To add to this, the Johnson and Wales dorms are called City View Towers. Not bad, but no amenities like the Catalyst. A fair amount of people found airbnbs last summer too.

Going to be a summer analyst in Charlotte.
I have a car. Should I take it with me? Driving it from where I live now to Charlotte won't be a hassle.
2 questions that matter 1: For getting from where I'll live in Charlotte to my bank's office, will a car be necessary? I assume NOT....so what should I be using? Does Charlotte have a good taxi (or uber) system? 2: For living in Charlotte in general (say I get a FT offer and work there for 2 years), is a car necessary?
I strongly prefer to NOT take a car with me.
Using Uber to get around is very easy. Depends if you're working and living in Uptown. If you live further than a 15-20min walk away from work, driving makes sense. Most analysts live within a 10min walk to work, though. Apt boom in Uptown has made it easy to walk everywhere.
If you're working in uptown (BofA/ Wells) a car is completely unnecessary as the previous poster mentioned, there is a huge luxury apartment boom in both uptown and the Southend. The Southend is a little cheaper with plenty of bars/restaurants within walking distance and has a light rail that runs directly into uptown with multiple stops in the Southend. Total commute using the light rail from the southern part of the Southend is probably 7-10 minutes and you could probably walk to work in 15-30 minutes depending on where you live in the Southend.
Did you seriously ask if Charlotte has Uber? 10,000 person towns have Uber.
Uptown has tons of apartments, the LYNX will get you to and from South Park if you choose that route, and yes, the city has all the modern technologies like fax machines and 8 tracks.
