Cold emailing MBB

Hello All,

I am planning to apply for consulting position at MBB. Is it better to cold email HR department or consultant/associate/partner?

I am an experienced hire, and so I missed the benefit of info session in school. I would like to get everyone's suggestion on best approach to land an interview with MBB.

Thank you in advance.

Best Regards.

from someone who is in the same boat as you currently, my experience has been emailing people who work for the team you are hoping to be on/the team that aligns with your background the most (AC, Associates, Consultants, Managers, etc.) & if you have a great conversation/rapport with them, ask about who else you should be speaking with in order to join their team. if they liked the conversation, they will introduce you to the recruiting team. from there, build a relationship with the recruiter & when you go to finally submit your application, let the people who you’ve connected with on the team know & again, if they liked you, they will flag you application which helps getting it pushed along.

my understanding is that experienced hires should submit applications around September, to be reviewed in Q4, however, not sure how Covid will end up affecting this.

do not work in MBB so this is only what I’ve gathered from being in a similar boat as you.

Hi! Thank you so much for your input. That is very helpful. Yes, I have heard about rumor of delay in application due to the Covid situation. Do you know if MBB accept application in rolling basis or they wait until deadline? I still need to find out about the deadline from different firms and offices. Good luck for your preparation in application!
