Compilation of TMT Deals 2019

Hi all!

I'm an undergrad with an upcoming interview for a top IBD TMT group in SF, and I want to make sure I can do the best I can.

What should I make sure I'm very familiar with? Right now I have:
Deals:

  • Google / Fitbit

  • Salesforce / Tableau

Activity:

  • Uber

  • Peloton (?)

  • WeWork

I would appreciate any advice on if the above is necessary/unnecessary.

FYI, the bank is GS. Any updated info on GS's SF TMT performance would also be super helpful.

Most Helpful

Most importantly, I'd know one tech company very well - be able to talk about its business model, financials, competitors, if it's over/undervalued, and previous + possible M&A opportunities for the company.

You should probably know more M&A deals that GS was on. It depends on the bank, but some want you to be able to talk about their deals more in depth than deals that they didn't have a role in. So, Google/Fitbit might not be as important to bring up since that was Lazard/Qatalyst I believe. I'd recommend being able to talk about one other GS deal than just Salesforce/Tableau, but generally just being able to talk about recent M&A/IPO's is important.

Same goes for IPO's, MS was the lead on Uber, but Peloton and WeWork is probably enough to talk about. Additionally, prepare to talk about a company that may wish to IPO in the near future.

I'd also recommend researching 1-2 trends that you're interested in. Some examples could be on how SaaS companies have become more vertical/specialized, or cybersecurity company acquisition strategies.
