Consulting Recruiting with December graduation
Hey guys,
So I'm slated to graduate May 2022, but if COVID makes my school go online, I might take a semester off and graduate December 2022 instead. How will this impact recruiting for consulting?
Normally I would do Junior year internship summer 2021 and full time starting summer 2022. But if I graduate in December 2022, when will I do my internship/start full time? Will I do internship summer 2022 and start full time after I graduate (like I would if I'm graduating in 2023)?
(I'm at a Target school shooting for MBB, T2, and some Econ consulting firms)
parmesan123123, bummer your thread hasn't had a response yet. Sometimes bots are smarter than humans anyways:
Hope that helps.
Yes (speaking as a Dec graduate myself)
hey, I’m in the same boat. For on cycle hiring, you’d be a part of the Fall 2023 ft hiring sequence meaning you’d recruit spring 2022 for MBB.
I think most schools are on a different timeline. Typically, consulting hiring occurs in the fall, i.e. a Spring 2023 graduate will start working in Fall 2023 but would recruit Fall 2022. A Fall 2022 graduate would most likely recruit in Fall 2022. Very little consulting hiring occurs in the spring
McKinsey, Bain and BCG typically have an August-September timeline and other shops like Deloitte, PwC, KPMG and EY have a September-October timeline.
They all hire a year early, so Spring 2022 recruiting for Fall 2023 position or Fall 2022 recruiting for Fall 2023 position. Really just depends on how you categorize it.
I don't think there's much if any FT undergrad hiring that occurs in the spring though, i.e. somebody who graduates in the Fall will be recruiting that Fall alongside those who graduate the following Spring
