Credit Investing - Exit Ops?
Hi,
This summer I'll be doing my junior year internship in credit investing with a big name firm. My prior internships are with a hedge fund and a PE fund. Let's say I get a full-time offer with the place I will be interning and accept - what are my exit options from credit investing there? Go to a credit focused hedge fund? Also if I want to recruit again in the fall of my senior year what will my options be?
I know I want to be an investor but I am unsure what asset class is most interesting to me.

I was wondering: what types of opportunities may be most likely to come across a 2 year analyst working for a large respectable credit investing firm.
I understand the nature of the work would help prepare you for a (distressed) credit hedge-fund or some leveraged finance role, but are there possibilities into private equity, equity-based hedge funds? Basically, does the focus on credit pigeon-hole a candidate over, say, the brand name of the firm (top 3 in its credit investing industry and well respected overall).

Its much harder to go from credit investing to PE, than it is to go from PE to credit investing.
Reasoning: PE is highly transactional (much like IB), and also has an operations aspect to it. Credit investing is neither transactional nor operational.
what exactly do you mean by "credit investing"? Can mean a lot of things.
I was assuming like an asset management or hedge fund focused on credit strategies, probably high yield of or structural focused.
PE would be difficult without a good MBA but other investing gigs would not be out of reach. You would likely start out pretty new at an equity shop, but it is definitely possible.
