Extending Graduation

I'm currently a rising junior applying for 2019 IBD summer analyst positions but have not received an offer yet. I am considering extending my graduation date from May 2020 to May 2021 to get a second shot.

If I do this, I'll be applying to pretty much the same banks again. Will this be noticed/disadvantageous for applying a second time to the same position?

This is a common trick, it's potentially worth it at some point if you can deal financially. you can also extend to December 2020 and still be looped into 2020 SA. Most banks would not notice/care about this, so many people apply as it is and many of them multiple years.

Would still go with a boutique over waiting a whole year, but if you do go with the additional year, do everything you can to boost your resume and network in the mean time.

You’ll be fine. I know some people who reapplied to BB for IB with a different account and email in the same cycle and it paid off. Others did get flagged. It’s a whole year difference and things change and you’re essentially applying for a different position so don’t worry about it if you do.

I think I did this right
