You compete with Asians by not conceding your inadequacies to them.

Sure, plenty of Asians get top offers, but it's not like they're getting jobs BECAUSE of their ethnicity (if anything, it's IN SPTE OF the fact that they're Asian). Many of them get the job because they work hard, busted ass in HS to go to a top school, approach recruiting strategically, etc. None of those factors are exclusive to the Asian race though.

Just play the same game, if you don't make it, it's not because you're white or whatever... it's because you actually ARE inadequate, independent of race.

Besides, non-Asians have historically done quite well in the US. Don't trip.

The more I read about her the better I feel about myself. With all those accomplishments, awards, scholarships, she is still nothing more than a CEO of a soon to fail start-up. The last four years of college have taught me that being amazing at school takes hard work, but being amazing in life, being an excellent entrepreneur, author, scientist and innovator takes serious creativity. I am not intimidated by her resume.

I met Joyce Meng at Oxford and I have to say she is actually a pretty nice person. She is not a closet case or socially retarded which was a pleasant surprise.

Alot of this is bullshit and so fundamentally self-depreciating. I'm not white but I'm not asian and I (and many other non-asians I go to school with and am close too) have the same if not better marks, along with the same if not better internship/EC qualifications (as the "wunderkid asians" you describe, not Joyce Meng :P).

I have great respect for Chinese/Taiwanese/Korean people and their culture, but the whole "we can't compete" spiel has been pissing me off for a while, it's an excuse for white kids to avoid their work ethic and stagnate while all the while denying one's own ability.

The reality is Asians do tend to set the curve at allot of schools and other people suffer because of it. They are willing to make the sacrifices needed to do the best, most caucasians are not.

Where is her youth? You've beaten her in that respect. She probably didn't have much going on there.

Here's the deal. People are going to get butthurt about asians. I am not asian, and it has happened to me before. But just realize, I have also been in the perspective of setting a curve on a test. It feels great, and the drive that people get from that can be valued greater than the drive others get from it. Why do people spend hours of their day watching porn and jacking off? Because it feels great to them. Why do people go to the gym and work out? It feels great to them.

Whatever brings you self satisfaction, you will have a drive for. If you truly wanted to be better than the people that are achieving more than you at a current point in time, the success from small steps along the way would be a certain euphoria that would push you to keep achieving.

That being said, I in no way, shape, or form have close to a 4.0. I've felt better in many circumstances from hanging out with my friends and enjoying my free time in ways that differ from purely just studying. And if one can say she does not purely study, and its cruel to bash her since shes a nice person and has friends, I say she's networking, rather than creating friends. If she has gotten to this point in her life where she has made so many companies and taken so many internships, she must view every relationship as a way to network, rather than a person to have fun with or a person to share a lasting, fulfilling relationship with.

And that would suck big black dick, not small asian dick.

Confucious wonder

If Chinese method of raising children SOOOOO successful, Why China still 'developing' nation?

Ok, that's offensive - honestly, until this century China was a third world nation once you stepped about a mile outside of any major city. China has a lot going for it, and their culture is pretty cool, but I don't buy into the pretentious bullshit that China is superior to us. We can learn from them, but as far as strict overacheiving parents to compare her to, you have no farther to look than the current president and his wife......who, by the way, are American.

Story about China...a country which has so much money that they buy their military aircraft from Russian. Meaning these are some sick planes. They buy the planes and take them apart to learn the technology. Their factories produce the metallic parts to industry specifications. Their workers carefully place the parts together. Then the brave go forth and fly these replicas. Once they take of, the planes burn and crash. Why? The metal is the same, the parts smell the same, heck even tires are the same. But, you can't just replicate an engine.

You shouldn't copy someones study habits or even working habits. Be happy with what you have, say a $50M jet, and don't try to copy it.

Employers care about results....if she can produce results, then they don't care if she's a robot with no personality at all...if she can get it done that's it.

On the other hand she actually seems to have many sides to her....although her resume seems too formulated, just the suspiciously "right dose" of: 1. a sport, where she won MVP 2. a musical instrument 3. 4.0 at a top school 4. top honors, so he's distinguished 5. extracurriculars: speech/debate 6. philanthropy/caring about community (her two startups)

If I see a resume like that I'd think she's not following her passions but designing her life to be able to get any opportunity she wants. Nothing wrong with that I suppose, but there is no passion and, as a result, it seems all fake.

But one thing is for sure, we Americans who are white/blk or "westernized" non-white/blk are indeed not as hard working, on avg, as Asians. Some are...Bill Gates, most aren't. And in general, whites have the simple fact that they are WHITE going for them, whether you believe it or not.

I admire Jews as well, I think they are gutsy in what they do, though a "few" may not be as "respectful" or "ethical" as one would expect out of a high-caliber individual.

Nanotech, I agree that it is a fact that most non-Asians aren't working hard as most Asians.

Also, Nanotech, Jews are now considered white by college admissions officers.
