How to acquire VBA Excel Skills Needed for first internship?

I am a beginner to excel, have not really delved into the world of spreadsheets with finance, or how to analyze data for finance in excel. However, I wanted to learn Excel Programming with Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), in hopes of being able to get an internship this summer at a boutique investment firm.

Anyone have any ideas on where to start? I've found this website so far: Excel Easy VBA (WSO is not allowing me to post the link...so here's keywords to search up the website: "VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) is the programming language of Excel and other Office programs."

IMO, the best method (after grasping the basic language) is to think of a project you want to do that you are actually interested in and work through it using VBA, obviously it has to be applicable.

You can also, as lifeboat somewhat mentioned, first just record a macro and save it, then open said macro and look at how it was coded.

openeducation.blackboard.com has a free VBA course, albeit basic and for completely new users, that you may find useful.
