Is it wrong for a student to sleep with an employee for a job

Is it wrong for a student at a university to sleep with an employee at an investment bank and he help her get a job there?

I think it's a matter of perspective:

The employee should just sleep with the student several times with the promise of getting her a job, but never actually get her the job.

The student should realize that she will get fucked literally and metaphorically and in every sense of the word and not try any shenanigans.

I know someone who did this...should she be reported?

I am constantly amazed by jealousy that chicks feel towards other chicks. This is not the only case, I see bitchiness in life almost everyday. Has she done something wrong to YOU? If she was ambitious enough to get a job by sleeping around, good for her. Why don't you worry about your own prospects. I will not be surprised if you are an East Asian girl.

I would totally sleep with a higher up female who works in finance and I would not even care about getting a job. I have a thing for powerful women.

the very last sentence finally made me lol

She shouldn't be reported, if for any reason at all because she will probably realize how demeaning that is to oneself and like magicKarp said in so many words, the only guarantee shes getting is fucked.

Ravenous:
Report her? What, are you going to make an anonymous call to HR?

You: "Uh, yeah, there's a rumor that Sara slept with Mike to get a job."

HR: "Pics or it didn't happen."

You can't do anything. Get used to the fact that life is unfair.

Exactly Ravenous... who are these retards... another reason you likely didn't get the job and she did... YOU ARE CONSIDERING REPORTING IT... do you have any idea how idiotic you would sound calling someone up and saying "Hey, um... Jenny slept with an Associate in this group that's how she got the job." This is a completely retarded thread. I actually hope you do try and report it, that way YOU will never get the job. You can't prove anything, it's all hearsay, and you're going to sound like a whiny little bitch... oh wait, you already do.

To everyone saying this should not be reported and the OP has nothing to benefit. I agree with the second bit. But I think it should be reported. Because there is a lot to lose if we don't/

Here is the problem. You knowingly give the green light on this by becoming a by stander. You make is acceptable for other recruiters to sleep with other graduates. Maybe some will be happy to do it. But others may not want to do it but will be reduced to do so, due to competition. (Btw in a particular research when women were sexually harassed in an interview, most of them didn't escalate it or report it because they didn't want to burn bridges... the stigma goes both ways unfortunately). I certainly do not want to take a step backwards in eradicating the "casting couch".

Just report it anonymously. I am sure HR will be interested to hear about it and will investigate the claim. Will send a few warnings down the office atleast which will make people cautious of not doing such things for a while.

And I can't believe this has become the how low can you go for 10m thread. Ethics you can take to the grave, the money you can not. But if it makes you happy go for it.

I love this thread... Is it "wrong" in the sense of being unethical or unfair? Absolutely, but considering the responses in this thread it sounds like sour grapes to me...

Hypothetically... What would you guys do if you had the opportunity to get ahead by giving head? Would you do it for an internship, a job or a big bonus?

LOL! i would not blow a guy even for 10MM cash...

I would love to know how she is going to be 'reported' but more than that, I want to be conferenced in on that phone call.

If you were asking for yourself. I would say don't do it. Then again I have never been comfortable dobbing people either. Idn. Your call. Will dobbing her in help you get the job. No. Is it ethical. I have no idea. Could be argued either way. One says you are screwing two people over. Other says you are upholding the system for future generations. Also, it is pretty poor form on her behalf to tell everyone how she got the job. I would have kept my mouth shut if I was her and I had slept with someone to get a job.

But yes. I am intrigued to what the ideal ethical solution to this problem is. calls up a friend who studies ethics

It's funny how no one has mentioned the fact that the guy (I'm assuming it was a guy) who gave her the job in exchange for sex is at fault here. I mean, he's the one abusing his position.
That's true. I wonder how senior the guy is. If he's an Analyst/Associate, then whatever he probably didn't have a lot of say in getting her hired anyway, but if he is VP or above, then that's actually terrible and is compromising the recruitment model of the bank...
-MBP

But what are you going to get from reporting her? You gain nothing. There are people out there who sleep around to get to get hired & etc. it's nothing new...But seriously, if you don't have skills or the determination to succeed in this industry, you won't get far. Consider the recruiting process as a test for this. And sooner or later, she'd realize she fucked up her career. Plus, if you report her, isn't there a chance of getting blacklisted? It's not worth ruining her career.

Let her brag about it or whatever...it's her life & she can live however she wants. Just focus on yourself & move on..

it;s like saying we hire girls because they are..well...girls. Everyone in banking knows (the guy at least) if there's a guy and a girl with equal credentials, the bank is more likely to hire the girl. Even higher chance if she's hot.

life is not fair, get over it. Why don't you go sleep with a gay banker to see if you can get ahead?

lol not sure how you're going to 'report her'. whatever 'evidence' you have is probably not going to convince HR, especially if he's high up. Unless you have a video or something..

Better than reporting, blackmail him. that way he's deterred from doing it again, and you get a job

only half kidding.

It's only wrong if the student is a woman and the employee a man. If it's the other way around, it is entirely acceptable, if not encouraged.

lol... like the hot women teachers macking on their young male students?

Either way, I'd be pretty peeved if I knew a girl (or guy) used their bodies to get the job that otherwise could have gone to me or other peers who are qualified. But this stuff happens all the time and you'll just look like a whiny fool trying to phone her in on it - just worry about yourself OP

Is it wrong? Yea.

Who the fuck cares? Jealous bitches.

If my interviewer was a hot, successful, rich woman I would definitly sleep with her. AND IT CAN GET ME A JOB? #@$#$%$#%

The question arises if the bitch is ugly. If you are willing to sleep with people who are already submissive to you you are probably pretty desperate. If you are hot, this means that you are probably psychotic or the interviewee looks like Brad Pitt. Ugly explains itself. I would just be worried if the chick wanted to continue this after you were hired since she is obviously desperate and probably has issues.

At least it shows that the girl who was interviewing was willing to put it all on the line for this job. lol

Reality hits you hard, bro...

For the pro blow jobers in this thread, what if you had to blow a guy that you knew very well and would likely need to continue having in your life? Does that change things? Every time you see that person, you would be reminded if their fucking cock in your mouth!!! Are you guys kidding? That is not worth 10MM! Even if its a complete stranger that you would never see again, still not worth it...

I would still do it. If you have $10mm you can spend a 1mm on booze. I think you won't remember what happened the past couple of days after that. Problem Solved.

for 10 million dollars, i would look that man in the eye, smile, and give him a thumbs up every time i saw him after. then i would tell all my friends "i blew that guy once... he gave me 10 million dollars!" and then my friends would slap me on the back and tell me how awesome i was.

yes... i've given this a lot of thought.

^^^This...was funny.

For the record, I would drill a potential job candidate. Abusing my power? Sure, but I don't give 2 shits. The trick is to not hire her, that's how you avoid any allegations of nepotism.

Also for the record, no, I would never suck a D for any amount of money.

@OP - If you're really vindictive, you could send an anonymous email describing the situation to every member of that young lady's group.

Man made money, money never made the man

If you had $10mm why would you still work for the guy? Either find a new job or retire.

And yes, I am pro-bj. I'm sure when the time comes, science will be able to erase parts of your memory, and I will have that one burned from my brain and have them tell me I "inherited" the money or won the lottery.

My name is Nicky, but you can call me Dre.

but seriously, this is a retarded question. Most likely there is no hard evidence and you will look like a complete jealous psychopath (not that you don't already) and mar your reputation much more than hers.

Also grow up or go occupy wall street, no one likes a whiner

Would you go in as a SA and be a dick? No. So don't come in as a chimp and be a dick.

Most banks have a pretty strict policy about this kind of thing. The chick is just a hoe, but the dude's job could come into question. Her worst enemies?...chicks who get jobs based on merit.

Honestly, if she's stupid enough to talk about it publicly, she'll get found out by HR at some point and you probably don't want to be associated in any way with this for perception's sake and to steer clear of the banker's vengeance. Unless there's more to the story, I dunno

Honestly, if a decent looking HR / MD banker chick wanted to trade favor for favor, I'd do it if I were single. No gay for pay though, no way. Nononono, I'm not touching that.

Get busy living

student sleeps with prospective employer for job position? welcome to the business world and more specifically the street

yea op you should watch house of lies (a documentary about mgmt consulting )

having worked for a while.. i've been told multiple stories about [very. successful.] women on my floor each having a few skeletons in their closets.

however, there's no evidence and there is almost never visible flirting ever. this is not just my floor. so the fact that the girl is SO proud of her tactic and telling everyone about it... i just don't think it'll fly well so i wouldn't worry about it

chicks like that really make the rest of us look bad :/

Does it surprise me? No. In this grand ol game of life it goes without saying those who are truly ambitious and perhaps without a moral compass employ just about every tactic to get ahead. While I do not condone such behavior it wreaks of sour grapes the way most guys in the thread are complaining about this woman. Is it fair? No. But if you folks honestly believe hiring is a transparent process with those receiving offers as the most "deserving" you're more delusional than I initially believed. I'm willing to bet a fair majority of the people on this board initially got their foot in the door because of some connection be it alumni/family/friends/ate at the same McDonalds. in all likelihood there was a more "competent" candidate who probably did not pass the initial HR screening because he/she did not have help from the inside and instead were "just another applicant." Now obviously we can debate the extent to which a connection plays as opposed to actually engaging in sex (and I will admit there's a fair amount of difference), but the point still stands that the most qualified do not always receive offers.

Work hard. Focus on yourself. Keep trying and I guarantee you that in the long run, cream rises to the top. Wait that's what she said.

10mm bucks, I'm in, that's a lot of prefticiouf therapy I can get. Or I can get a bottle of whiskey and some xanax and I probably wouldn't remember it in the morning.

With that said, I think it's kind of foolish to try to report this girl, it's not like it's going to benefit you at all, and if the employee found out about you from her or HR or whatever, he could try to screw YOU. Not in the literal, fun way of course, since I'm assuming 1st year analysts don't make hiring decisions by themselves.
