Jewelry and Professionalism

I wanted to get an opinion on jewelry in the workplace - I was gifted a subtle, thin gold band ring that has been passed through my family, to be worn on my middle finger. Is it inappropriate to wear something like this in an office environment?

Thank you

I keep my jewelry to my wedding ring and my watch. I used to wear my undergrad signet but it felt like too much with the wedding ring.

I think if you keep it understated, no one will notice and even if they notice they won't care.

My dad interestingly does his undergrad signet and watch but no wedding ring. Not quite sure why, but he never wore it at any point in being married to my mom to this day. I wear just my signet ring and a watch, continuing in a sort of family tradition.

If the ring is not at all obtrusive, you're fine. I'd say just wear it, and if you get some negative comments, just wear it only outside of work.

I have my own business, I am engaged in wholesale fashion jewelry . Since this type of earnings is my element in life. I always and everywhere go in rings. Many of my colleagues and friends said that this is not entirely ethical and professional on my part, but I just cannot imagine myself without rings on my hands. I think whether or not you should wear rings depends only on you, well, or on the rules and laws that are present in your work. I have seen a lot of people who work with their jewelry on their hands, if they like it, they do it. This does not interfere with work in any way, does not reduce productivity. I think this may only confuse the client, but again it depends on the area in which you work. If this is an engineer, of course, this is strictly prohibited for safety reasons, but if you are some kind of manager, then why not.

I also do not advise wearing rings when doing physical exercise or if you are involved in some kind of sports, it is traumatic.

A male is allowed two pieces of Jewelry: A watch and a pen. (wedding rings don't count)

The only difference between Asset Management and Investment Research is assets. I generally see somebody I know on TV on Bloomberg/CNBC etc. once or twice a week. This sounds cool, until I remind myself that I see somebody I know on ESPN five days a week.

Honestly just wear whatever you genuinely feel comfortable with.

I have a gold signet ring (family, not college lol) and I wear it to the office. Tend to joke that I am in a cult when I get asked about it, as I always find it pretty weird when you ask someone about things like that and they get defensive

I think you can never go wrong with a simple pearl stud earring. They always look elegant on a woman. Plus, they won't distract you from your dress or hairstyle.

I don't know much about this, but my wife had white pebbled earrings at our wedding. She said that she bought these fashion earrings from an online store at a very inexpensive price. I don't know if the diamonds were real, but they sparkled like real ones. I wonder if she should buy another one already with real diamonds. I want to buy such earrings that she will always wear, that is so that they would be suitable for everyday life and for some events. Of course, I think it's almost impossible, but it's worth trying.

There is nothing inappropriate about wearing an engagement ring to work. From your description, it's a classic gold ring. Imo, classic is always appropriate! This kind of jewelry is suitable for any place and time In general, the minimalist design of jewelry fits into all situations of our lives. Keep your chin up and wear your jewelry with pleasure. No one has the right to tell you what to wear and when to wear it. A person is free to express himself as he wants. This is called freedom. I understand that there is a concept of a dress code, but if a place doesn't allow you to wear any jewelry, then get out of there.
