LBS MiM vs INSEAD MiM for Management Consulting in France

Hi everyone,

Having received offers for both LBS MiM and INSEAD MiM, I am having a hard time deciding between the two programmes.

I want to study a Master in Management as a stepping stone toward a career in Management Consulting. Post MiM, I want to land a graduate job at MBBs in Paris. Which programme do you think is the best to achieve my career goals?

I am tempted to think that INSEAD will place better in Management Consulting, especially in Paris. However, I am wondering whether MBBs will actually recruit students from the Master in Management, which is a brand new programme at INSEAD.

Any help would be appreciated.

Pretty inaccurate. Firstly, INSEAD is recognised as a [Grande Ecole](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grandes_%C3%A9coles#Business_schools_(gra…) and secondly, you don't need to go to HEC to land MBB jobs in Paris. You can confirm this from a quick LinkedIn search - I found people in my network that went to Yale, ESCP and Sciences Po that ended up at all the MBBs. I think your comment is a bit misleading.

jujudu40 Both schools are very well known in European consulting circles and both have a large number of French kids studying there that intend to return to work in France. I would dare say INSEAD simply because of the direct link to France. You can check out where people ended up on LinkedIn. Another thing I always say, there are great consulting firms outside of MBBs. Having those as your target is great and I hope you get them, but both business schools can easily land you at top firms like LEK, RB, ATK and OW all of which have Paris offices.

OP: I PMd you my phone number. Give me a call.

Did extensive and heavy networking with the INSEAD MIM Team, as well as people from the program's Career Center, and members of Faculty as well (professors on both the Europe and Singapore Campus).

Can attest 100% that MBB firms with strongly target the INSEAD MIM.

And given the strong 'Location' component of any business school when considering placement and career prospects, given that you're targeting a career in France, the INSEAD MIM seems like the more pragmatic and logical choice here.

Plus, just like Stanford GSB, INSEAD has a grade non-disclosure policy with which MBB firms (and other GPA-inclined recruiters) are fairly familiar with. So it'd also be more relaxed for you. Don't know if LBS has it.

More details if you want to discuss this via phone call. Would be happy to answer any of your questions.

Sorry for the double post.

Don't know what MMA9292's original post was, but it is clear that the INSEAD brand vastly outshines any of its other rival/competitor schools in France (HEC, ESSEC, ESCP).

Not even close.

It'd be only silly and delusional to think otherwise (only if you're a butthurt ex-prep kid who got into one of the above three and are in over your head about the whole prep school system that is unique to France).

This is a laughable take. INSEAD and HEC equally incredible brands - in distinct spheres of influence.

HEC is vastly stronger in France and Europe in general, mainly because of relative high strength of MiM here over MBA. Entry-level recruiters simply have not had much exposure to INSEAD and its alumni are more global than France-based.

INSEAD on the other hand is much stronger in UK, USA and Asia - again as MBA degree is stronger there.

- non-prepa HEC MiM grad
