Most expensive nights (in $USD)
Most expensive restaurant bill or bar tab you’ve seen? In one sitting/one night what is the most you’ve seen on a receipt? Feel free to add some flavor to your answer - maybe some details about what was on there or where it was. Lot of people stereotyping those of us that are familiar with Stonks about how much is spent on T&E so let’s prove em right
Including casino losses?
Two come to mind (at least where I footed the bill), normally not like me (especially #2) but everyone has their douchebag finance days:
After a good year (and after getting my bonus) I took a group of colleagues out to dinner to thank them. Total bill was $16k with about $10k on alcohol, including lots of champagne.
Friends bachelor party in Vegas where I offered to pay for the night out (partially because I wanted to do things right). There was only 5 or 6 of us. Dinner was moderate ($3k or so). Then went to club, and of course they settled on a $10k minimum table which ended up being closer to $20k, lots of people around us got free drinks.
Now that's leadership. We need more like you.
From a 2014 NY Post article on Sage Kelly and the Jefferies Healthcare team:
"During one particularly rowdy night out with a client, Kelly, 42, racked up a $28,000 bill at Scores strip club in Chelsea, the source claimed. “In typical Sage fashion, he stuck the analyst with the tab. Poor kid almost had a nervous breakdown trying to figure out how to run it through as an expense,” the source said."
Not mentioning the foursome in the Ritz hotel suite in Boston
Around $2,000 for a simple few round of drinks. Adds up
Had a nice exit after a very tough last 6-12 months getting things across the line. What was supposed to be a "low-key" deal team dinner at one of the more understated 3 star restaurants turned into a ~$200K disaster when the firm founder and his entourage showed up. Investment-grade bottles got opened. God bless infinite MF money.
This is small potatoes compared to others but the one that I'll never forget was a $5,000 for a party of 10 for a management presentation dinner. Reason I won't forget it was because this was one of several MPs and the management team did not give a fuck about expenses so after this dinner I fly back to the office and accounting and IB management are blowing up my MD who then gets onto me about why the company has completely blown past their expense cap in the engagement letter and we still have like 5 more MPs to go. Company paid the invoice without issue and most importantly the deal closed but to this day it's still a running joke between me and the analysts about "hey remember that time NPV ran up that huge bill at the MP dinner!".
Like $400 on a nice dinner, I don’t feel the need to flex at a club

I’m 19 but for a hs grad trip in Europe, 7 of my friends and I got high end bottle service. Dinner was like 500 euros, bottle service + tip was like 2000. One of my friends also got 2 400 euros bottles of dom on the side... all together I paid like 300 USD that night. Didn’t remember a thing... just know I puked on a girl from Brown who was at our table and probably the hottest girl in the country at the time... Apparently she was premed/nursing and really nice so she took care of me all night spoon feeding me water. Saw her the next day at the same club (yes, we ran it back to a smaller degree, around 1500) and she jumped onto me with a hug..
Best moment of my life
