Private Equity Firms DC
I know there are many websites/resources online where anyone can find lists of investment banks in different locations around the US (from BB to boutique). I was wondering if anyone knew of any similar resources that have listings of PE shops around the country.
I am interested in finding out what PE firms are located in DC. If anyone can provide a list, a link, or really any resources I would greatly appreciate it.

Does anyone have PE firms around D.C. Metro Area? I am looking forward to relocate to D.C. and would like to explore opportunities there.
Why? D.C. is better known for VC outside of Carlyle really.
There are several MM shops, some are decent, others not so much. ACAS is on the decline, Harren is solid (but out in Charlottesville). Pine Creek, Halifax, Paladin are just ok. Arlington is solid.
Any particular reason why Arlington and Harren are legit vs. the others being only ok? Returns, comp? Any insight on Quad-C (also in Charlottesville)? Thanks!
Sorry, meant to quote in my last comment: Any particular reason why Arlington and Harren are legit vs. the others being only ok? Returns, comp? Any insight on Quad-C (also in Charlottesville)? Thanks!

Gorilla, this is really helpful. Thanks a lot.
Some of the firms on this list are poor. Others are decent.
HCI is a good lower MM firm.

D.C.-based PE Firms? (Originally Posted: 08/15/2010)
Anyone have a list / know of PE firms in the D.C. area? Not just the city of D.C., but metro-D.C. -- Arlington, Bethesda, Alexandria, etc. Preferably not megafunds (I think KKR and Carlyle have offices there). I'm guessing it'll be A&D/tech/software-heavy given the location, but that's not a big deal -- just throw names out there. And if you know if they hire pre-MBA associates, that would be good as well.
Thanks.
Did you look at the DC hedge funds thread? There's a post there with a bunch.
Ya, sorry, should have mentioned I did a search and that was one of the threads I looked through. Was hoping to get a more comprehensive list of PE/growth equity/VC firms, and also some insight into the firms.

This really does deserve a banana.
I heard of some firm called The Carlyle Group.
There are PE Associations for junior folks in various major cities. Here is a link to Boston / Chicago / LA

Any good UMM / MF not Carlyle?
Arlington Capital Partners is fairly large - may classify as UMM depending on your criteria
