Resume Weighting: School vs Internships?
Hello all!
As the title shows, I'm curious if reviewers weigh school activities + GPA or career experience more when looking at a resume. I've heard many conflicting ideas that GPA doesn't matter too much (of course as long as it's not terrible). However, I wanted to get opinions on confirming this. What are some of your experiences when handing in a resume? Is it more of a balance of both? Or does one weigh more than the other?

you will get no consistent answer on this everyone's experience is different
If you have a low GPA, you will be facing an uphill battle for sure. Possible, but not worth the hassle - just get good grades. There is no reason you shouldn't be able to maintain a high GPA as well as participate in school activities, which in turn will help you get the relevant career experience you need (by making you more competitive for recruiting).
@"matayo" True, I just wanted to hear different opinions.
@"notthehospitalER" I was talking more along the lines of a decent GPA but different scenarios. To put in a scenario, say one student as a 3.3 GPA with minimal school club exposure but has had internships (collecting respective career experience) all throughout his/her college career. The other student has a 4.0 GPA with active membership in school clubs but minimal internship exposure. Which has better marketability?
This is all just in perspective and while getting both a high GPA with constant exposure to internships is ideal, for myself and those who would like to know, which has a greater impact?
I'd say it depends on what year the student is in. If you have just finished your first year (maybe second even), it is fine to just have ECs. If you haven't had one (ideally two or more) internships by graduation then you are likely screwed.
