What are you all wearing in your markets?

SF office leasing broker here and we typically wear business casual (chinos/jeans with tucked in dress shirt) and a lot of guys rock the vest. More than half of us wear a Patagonia jacket because SF is one of those cities that even when its nice out it can get cold real quick.

Ive noticed in other markets, NYC for example, when traveling for business that almost every broker rocks a sport coat/blazer, some even full suits.

Some markets are even more dressed down or up depending on what side of the business you are in. Curious what you all are wearing?

In San Diego you'll see business casual is "dressed up" and most often just stylish jeans or even shorts. We had a walk through on a 11mil coastal apartment deal and the listing broker was in shorts and flip flops. Lately I'm more on the slacks and collared shirt, but now that the heat is finally showing up (77 degrees max), I'm going to be wearing khaki's an polo shirts...sometimes with Vans :)

I was in Dallas for Monday night football last Nov/Dec with 200 other brokers. We all arrived Sunday night. It was pretty clear who was from Ca and who was East Coast. Is it just me, or is it odd to travel on a Sunday evening to a hotel in a suit and coat? Those were the East Coast guys. Relax, we're all just brokers on a Sunday at a hotel bar.

this thread would be much cooler if it were titled "Who are you wearing ..."

As for me, it's usually airpods, sketchers, v-neck t-shirt, blazer, high-water jeans, Clark Kent-style glasses, and hairgel. Currently crushing the Sacramento triple-net market.

Southeast developer. Some combination of button down, slacks/chinos, jeans, or polos. Lace ups or loafers. MAYBE a sportcoat for a very formal meeting with equity, but probably not, instead just making sure it's a button down and slacks on that day instead of a polo and jeans.

In the winter, I'll throw on a Patagucci vest, thin sweater, or a quarter zip. Dress boots instead of loafers.

I work on the LP side and get the benefit of working with a lot of GPs across the nation.

Our NYC-based GPs will show up to a property tour in 90 degree, humid as fuck Maryland weather wearing full suits and ties. I've toured SoCal properties with our LA-based group; one of the principals was wearing tom ford jeans and a vneck. Our Chicago operators dress like they are going to a wedding in the 90s (boxy jackets, pleated pants), and all of our texas operators wear golf polos and khakis. We work with one guy in Phoenix who always wears shorts and an untucked button down. to tours and broker meetings. Believe it or not, I find our partners in Miami tend to dress the best.

This is hilarious and perfectly fits my stereotypes of each of those markets.

I met a developer (one of many) who dresses like this. This has been my goal ever since.

This didn't happen in LA but it had a similar impact on young me. There I was, wearing a full suit at a broker event, tossing my business card into a jar in hopes of winning an iPad or something, when some dude rolls up in a Bentley wearing a v-neck T and expensive jeans. All of us suited people turned our noses up with a "who is this loser?" mentality. Turns out he owned the building. We were the losers.
