What shot do i have - Constructive criticism
Hey guys I just wanted to know what kind of shot I to get into private equity straight out of undergrad. Also any tips on where to find job postings for firms that would hire a candidate like me.
UT Austin
GPA: >3.9
Experience: some financial experience, once worked for a fortune 500 company over the summer
Extracirculars: Some major ones nothing too amazing
contributed all of my expenses while in college (involved working two jobs usually)
Constructive criticism is welcomed.
Idk much about it, but I highly doubt it. Alot of niche financial modeling (the way i understand it) and requires exp in those fields that the PE firm targets for its strategies.
I mean getting into PE out of undergrad in general is really hard. Your chances aren't good but that shouldn't stop you from trying.
None. You obviously lack the required level of prestigiousness.
Agree with Kalga in that your resume isn't that great. However, you should try to network and really play up the fact that you worked in school and paid your own expenses. Put it on your resume even at the bottom or whatever.
Very low chance, but if you have your heart set on it, it's worth trying. Try some southeastern / southern shops where the UT name carries a bit more weight -- i.e. Roark in ATL... maybe a few shops in Charlotte... Places like that may be a bit more warm to your desires. PM if you want to chat more
Very low chance to get into a decent PE firm. But you might want to try some smaller boutiques if that's your thing. I would highly recommend to start from the sell-side first.
There are plenty in Texas...not sure why you would look in the southeast.
Having said that, most will require the standard banking experience track. Opportunities with the banks are pretty unlimited coming out of UT undergrad...but you've kind of missed the boat at this point.
Were you McCombs honors? If not 0, if yes, very slim but possible at a regional shop.
doable but you'd need to have done many internships in PE before. PE requires much more skill than IB
Mentioned above. You create your own opportunities. Getting PE out of undergrad isn't even close to the most improbable thing someone has accomplished. These chance threads are retarded; every time someone makes one I feel like it's an insecure girlfriend asking if you "REALLY" love her.
reeks of insecurity.
Why not spend 2 years in IB and then make the jump? You'll have modelling experience, what year are you btw?
