Will Capital Market Groups (ECM/DCM) be automated?
Investment banking is a relationship business so they're safe but ECM/DCM is heavily reliant on the market which is becoming increasingly automated nowadays. Are these groups safe?
In my view, not any time soon. Sure like many other aspects of banking, automation will have its impact on certain processes but don't underestimate just how critical relationships are for ECM/DCM. Ultimately, both clients and investors listen to your advice because they trust you, not because some computer program says so.
