Canadian Pension Funds
I've been told by a lot of analysts on the street that Canadian pension funds are a great resume booster when it comes to US IB recruiting. Is there any truth to this? If so, why are they so sought after? What makes the experience differ from regular Asset Managers?
Because of their larger asset base, they often invest with larger (and savier) US firms. Whether directly (LBOs), alongside (co-invest), or indirectly (fund LP). This not only puts them top of mind for US investors, but coverage from US investment banks as well. Hope that helps
probably. Their scale gets them into some prominent deals. And I presume they have good training programs.
